Writing is a way of thinking out loud. Random thoughts and musings whether from experience or from mentally going-down-the-rabbit-hole is who I was meant to be – a writer who has not sufficiently formed the thought completely or thought the entire idea through, and so is merely processing the idea audibly without knowing its conclusion or validity. That’s my virtual life. I call my occupation, an aspiring writer.
My experience is varied. My resume includes professional training In corporate America with companies ranging from American Airlines, Allstate Insurance Company, and Merrill Lynch. Five years in corporate communication, seven years as a psychotherapist; a licensed counselor, and alcohol and drug abuse counselor, three years as an insurance underwriter, and a licensed broker – holding a series 6, 7 and life insurance. My experience has provided me with a look into the worlds of mental health, not-for-profit education, training, nonprofit employment, and finance. But why stop there. Turning my attention to academic pursuits – I entered the world of academia. First in a community college setting for five years, then the University of Texas system, and finally 16 years with Texas Christian University. Now on a hiatus from teaching, calling it a Shabbatical. Yes, I have some things to say. Like my definition of writing, I am still processing, not sure of the conclusion.
